Fr. Marty Demek - Pastor
|
|
|
I
was born in November, 1949, here in Baltimore, MD. I am the third
of four children. I have two older married brothers, John and
Charles, and a younger sister, Marie Pauline, who is a member of the
Sisters of Christian Charity. I grew up in South Baltimore,
attending Holy Cross Catholic Church and School. During those
elementary years, I realized that God was calling me to be a
priest. So for high school I attend the St. Paul Latin School,
which was the Archdiocese's day-hop seminary. In 1967, I moved to
St. Charles College in Catonsville, where after four years of college
education I received a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy. For my
theological studies I opted to study in Rome and was appointed to
attend the Pontifical North American College. While in Rome, I
received my Bachelors in Sacred Theology and my Masters in Theology
from the Pontifical Gregorian University. I was ordained on
August 2, 1975 by Archbishop William D. Borders. I have served
several parishes in the Baltimore area as an associate - Our Lady,
Queen of Peace in Middle River, St. Thomas Aquinas in Hampden, and
Shrine of the Little Flower in Belair-Edison. My mother, Marie,
died in October, 1983 and my Dad, John, died in March, 1994. In
1987 I was appointed to my first pastorate - St. Bartholomew in
Manchester, MD. After 8 years there, I went on sabbatical at the
Vatican II Institute in Menlo Park, CA. When I returned to
Baltimore, I was assigned to St. William of York and served there for
14 years. In July, 2010, I was asked to become the pastor of
Corpus Christi. |

Roberta Brown - Community Center Food Program Manager
|
|
| It seems I’ve always served people in every aspect of my life. I was a Residential Coordinator for a community based program for disabled adults. I planned their menus, did the shopping and handled other odds and ends for the participants. After that I worked on the world famous Corned Beef Row where I sliced, prepared and served sandwiches. Later I worked at Saval Foods. I have been the Food Program Manager at Corpus Christi since April, 2008. I think Corpus Christi is a very warm and welcoming Church. | |
