From
the Pastor,
Over the past months, since March, 2011, the pastors of the
Central City Catholic Churches have been meeting on a
regular basis. At one point we expanded our group to include
lay persons as well. This group continues to meet on a regular
basis.
The purpose of our meeting is mainly to assist the various
parishes in planning for the future. We have proposed to the
Archdiocese how we might handle the priest shortage in the
area over the next years as well as the reduction of the number
of Masses if necessary.
Over the next several months we will be meeting so as to
look at what other areas might we be able to co-operate in –
where might we share resources, ministries and maybe even
personnel.
One thing is certain – life as we know it will change in
some way, shape or form. That I am afraid is a fact of life.
What our group is trying to do is to preserve as best as
possible the beauty, the integrity and the uniqueness of each
parish.
Please pray for us as we continue this important work.
Peace,
Fr. Marty
Parish Social Events
This year we decided to have two parish social events: Sunday, June 10, 2012 on the Feast of Corpus Christi we will host our feast day party after mass, and Sunday, September 30 a Corpus Christi Fall Fest after mass. Details will be coming closer to the party times, but we wanted to make sure you put them in your schedule.
Pastor’s Suppers
Don’t forget to sign up for the Pastor’s Suppers. Sign-up sheets are in the back of church near where the old bulletins are placed on the back wall of the church. There are still openings for the dates in, March and April. Fill out the tear off and return it as soon as possible – this will enable the pastor to plan appropriately. Please place your tear off in the collection basket.
Volunteers Needed
Please consider volunteering to help with the Sister Parish Coffee Sales. Carol Bleistine and Beth Dellow have been doing the sales for 10 years! Please contact Carol at 410-889-3238 to find out what is involved in doing the monthly sales. Besides providing delicious coffee and candy at fair trade prices, the sales. The coffee sales are very important in helping to raise money for our Sister Parish outreach.
Hospitality
We need parishioners to volunteer to help with Hospitality that we have once a month after the Sunday mass. Lea Billingslea has coordinated this for several years.
